While the manual for the ETC Controller eludes to a calibration mode (Code CL on the display), the Manufacturer's response is that the manual is incorrect and there is not a calibration mode. The sensor manual states that "field calibration and repair to the ETC control must not be attempted."
However, if your control is giving abnormal temperature readings, you can check the sensor itself, and it can be replaced if found bad.
To Check the sensor:
- Make sure power is disconnected from the unit.
- Disconnect the sensor and measure the resistance across the leads while measuring the temperature at the sensor
- Allow thermometer to stabilize before taking a reading. Several minutes may be required for the sensor to acclimate to the temperature being sensed. Body heat can effect the sensor.
- Compare reading using the chart Resistance vs. Temperature chart below. The reading may not agree exactly. This can be due to the accuracy of the thermometer used, sensor tolerances, handling of the sensor, and the sensors time constant.

Also note the thermal resistance between what you are trying to measure the temperature of and the sensor itself can have an effect on the accuracy as well.
