Join area beekeepers for a day, Marion, NC

The Cooperative Extension Service and the McDowell Honeybees Chapter will host a field day at 10 a.m. April 8 at McDowell Agricultural Center on N.C. 226.A variety of demonstrations is planned, including splitting a hive, installing package bees and conducting mite counts. A hive inspection will also be demonstrated, including how to recognize a healthy brood and how to look for various diseases and pests.

Participants will be required to wear protective equipment and should bring their own.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish. The program will conclude with lunch. Soft drinks, coffee and paper products will be provided.
Learn more about beekeeping and get some hands-on experience.
Call the Extension office at 652-8104 by noon Thursday if you plan to attend.
Getting there:
From Interstate 40, travel south about a half-mile on 226. The Agricultural Center is just past the old prison on the left. Signs are posted.
