It is a source of energy to the fatigued and medicine to the ailing. That is a good thing of the nature. An exhausted Israeli soldier once dipped his rod to a comb dripping with honey and was energised (1 Samuel 14: 25-30). This illustrates one of the properties of honey that man benefits from honey. It is a quick source of energy, being consisted of mainly carbohydrates – about 82%. Interesting, a bee can fly round the world with the energy provided by just 30 grams of honey. Bees do not make honey for man alone but they also depend on that for food. A standard-sive hive of bees needs between 10 and 15 Kilogrammes of honey to survive the winter. However, a hive can produce 25 kilogrammes in normal season, giving room for surplus which humans enjoy, as well as animals like raccoons and bears. Recent Beekeeping News: |
