Zwane said government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operatives had done a research, which shows that honey had a vast market, both locally and internationally.

Zwane stated that the local product was low because farmers lacked financial assistance to improve or double their produce.

“Financial institutions should not worry about small risks in this industry because they are easily controllable,” he said.

The director stated that the roping in of Technoserve, a reputable business motivating organisation had minimised failures in this business venture.

“Technoserve will assist the farmers in business evaluating , business plan development, market and industry research, farmer’s organisation and support and industry strategic plan,” he said.

The director further advised farmers to come up with comprehensive proposals, which will state clearly the kind of business ventures and if there are any markets available.
